Saturday, 23rd August, 2014, 03:50 PM IST ‘Mardaani’, the Rani Mukerji starrer YRF film that plays with social issues like child trafficking and prostitution, released this Friday. However,we hear that the film which portrays the hard hitting realities in our society in a matter-of-fact way will not be released in Pakistan.
Apparently, Pakistani distributor Rehmat K Fazli feels that the film has too much adult content and that is why it was rejected for public exhibition in the country. We have heard that the makers of the film were requested about seven cuts and also, certain scenes were asked to be blurred out keeping in mind the stringent rules of the Pakistani Film Board. However, the creative team of the film felt that after so many omissions the essence of the film would be lost and the social message it gives would be distorted. Hence they decided to go against the suggestions, losing out on the film’s release. Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, ‘Mardaani’ sees Rani playing the role of a CBI officer, on a mission to expose a child trafficking racket. |
