Thursday, 28th August, 2014, 05:00 PM IST Although Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has praised actress Rani Mukerji for her film ‘Mardaani’, he feels that young children must not watch the film the reason being the kind of language used in the film.
Aamir said, “There are some words in the film that I will not want children to watch. I don't want young children to see it because of the kind of language it has and I don't want very small children to see violence.”
We earlier reported that Rani is running a campaign for a new category which allows children above 12 years to watch a film like ‘Mardaani’. Aamir disagrees with this and feels kids must not watch so much violence that films like ‘Mardaani’ portray and also the kind of crude language used in such films.
Aamir further said, “Rani may have a different opinion and I respect Rani highly. I have seen the film and the film has certain amount of violence.” The actor is of the opinion that children should not be exposed to violence and adult content through films. He says, “Now, I am not talking about ‘Mardaani’. I think most absurd and strange things are shown in some films which are U or U/A. I cannot believe how it is shown in the film. I think we should be careful about what we are exposing our children to.” “I believe in the freedom of speech. I am a creative person but I have responsibility to what I am showing to children. Children should grow freely and not be exposed to violence. I don’t know about the guidelines. If I knew then only can I respond. But in general I do believe there are certain things or words which I don’t want my children to watch or come across. If I use that kind of words or language in my film, I will make sure that I will say it is an adult film and advertise it that way. If I am showing a film to adult persons then they can make decision of whether they want to watch the film or not,” said Aamir before signing off. |
