Monday, 1st Sept 2014, 4:23 PM IST Since its release on June 28th this year, Sridevi’s ‘English Vinglish’ has been ruling the roost in Japan with screenings across 33 screens. But that’s not the end of it! An all-round appreciation of the movie from the local audience led to the movie to be released across 17 more screens, taking the total screen count to 50.
Earlier on, Aamir Khan’s ‘3 Idiots’ had received a warm welcome in Japan, making ‘English Vinglish’ the second Bollywood movie to garner such appreciation in Japan.
"I'm overwhelmed with all the praise the film continues to receive worldwide. A big thank you to Gauri Shinde once again for making such a beautiful movie", said Sridevi.
‘English Vinglish’ premiered in Tokyo on May 27th this year and saw Sridevi along with First Lady of Japan, Akie Abe and Japanese singer Agnes Chan attend it.
‘English Vinglish’ did brilliantly in Hong Kong, Germany, Taiwan and Korea as well. |
