Detailed Analysis:
'Finding Fanny' is hitting the screens tomorrow and it is directed by Homi Adjania who directed two contrasting films 'Being Cyrus' and 'Cocktail'. Film has super star cast and interesting promos. Film has rather simplistic plot. Deepika Padukone (Angie) lives in small village Pocolim in Goa. She narrates story of bunch of interesting individuals including herself. Her husband Gabo (Ranveer Singh) died while having their marriage cake on the wedding day itself. Gabo, Angie and Savio Da Gama (Arjun Kapoor) were childhood friends but Savio failed to express his feelings for Angie. Gabo had competitive feeling against Savio and so he proposed and got married. Savio left the village for 6 years and now he is back. Angie lives with her mother in law Rosalina (Dimple Kapadia). A famous painter Don Pedro (Pankaj Kapoor) is attracted to Rosalina. Ferdie (Naseeruddin Shah) gets a letter which he wrote 46 years back to his lady love Fanny (Anjali Patil) in which he confessed his love for her. But it never got delivered. Angie pegs Ferdie to go in search of Fanny, his true love fro whom he was always waiting. How all five characters go for journey of lifetime where they discover relationship, bitterness, secrets and of course Fanny in the end! Performance wise Deepika Padukone gives a decent act but she looked a bit stiff at places. Though she should be applauded for performing like an actor sans stardom. Arjun Kapoor shines bright among stellar actors and he is so natural with flair that it is difficult to take your eyes off when he is on screen. Watch out when he says 'better' after that make out scene. Dimple Kapadia is outstanding with her frivolous naughty act. Watch out for the scene where she sees her painting in shock, marvelous emotional shot! Two stalwarts Pankaj and Naseeruddin are there together in so many shots and every shot is gem. But this time Pankaj scores over Naseer big time as he has some best lines. Background music of the film is tiring and songs are in sync with the film but still lacks quality. Script moves too slow in 1st half but 2nd half is good. Dialogues are witty and impressive. Cinematography is decent and editing is uneven as few shots go on and on. Costume and art department did fine. Ranveer Singh and Anjali Patil are decent in cameo. Director Homi Adjania gives an interesting film. Highly inspired from European cinema but still has some laid back beauty about the film. He presents a cocktail of his last two films 'Being Cyrus' and 'Cocktail'. Film will release tomorrow and will get opening of some sort for sure in urban centers as this genre has no chance in mass centers. Film will get competition from 'Mary Kom' in metros. Film will find it really tough to cross 40 cr nett at box office. .
